Redesigning a Learning Experience for Employees of a Leading Russian Bank
We were brought in to edit the copy and create visuals for a corporate learning tool — with the goal of making the materials clear, engaging, and visually accessible, without compromising on subject-matter expertise.

Client
NDA
One of the 13 largest and systemically important banks in Russia, with nearly 9,000 employees. The company places a strong emphasis on employee development and has launched a training program specifically for its managers.

The program is designed to enhance leadership, communication, and business process skills, helping participants reach a new level in their professional growth. It covers core areas of management, including topics such as team collaboration, motivation, delegation, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and systems thinking.
Objectives
The client requested our support in developing a training program comprising four modules, each containing numerous longreads, infographics, and supplementary materials. Our tasks included:

  • Designing all materials in a consistent visual style
  • Editing and proofreading the entire body of content across the program
What We Did
Design
The product lead reached out to us based on an internal referral — we had already worked together on previous projects within the bank. We began with design: since the training product didn’t have its brand guidelines, we developed a custom visual concept.

The design drew inspiration from the bank’s corporate style but introduced key distinctions. Instead of the signature black and yellow, we chose a palette of light blue, green, and turquoise to create a calm and friendly tone for the learning experience.
We used the bank’s internal illustration builder, which provided a library of ready-made graphic elements. Based on these, we assembled visuals for infographics, one-pagers, and presentations.

The client provided the content structure and specified the types of slides needed — for example, title slides, bullet-point layouts, and speaker profiles with names and photos. We also created branded templates for certificates and internal emails.
Infographics were a core part of the project — they helped simplify complex topics and keep learners focused. Visuals such as diagrams and graphic elements were needed for nearly every piece of content.

The client provided detailed briefs, often including sketches, references, or even hand-drawn drafts. We adapted and redesigned all visuals to match the project’s visual style, ensuring they were clear, consistent, and instructional.
Content Editing
A few weeks into the project, we began working on the written content — longreads of varying lengths. Our goal was to bring consistency in tone, structure, and style across the entire course.

We received draft texts written by a mix of internal and external subject-matter experts. All content was edited in line with the bank’s editorial guidelines. We used suggestion mode for edits and added comments to flag any issues. Most edits were approved without the need for additional rounds. When necessary, we discussed specific points with the client before sending the final text for proofreading.

The project was long and intensive, lasting over six months. One of the key challenges was managing volume — at one point, the client was producing two full modules simultaneously. We had to process a large number of materials within tight deadlines.
Workflow
To stay organised, we set up two dedicated chats: one for design tasks, another for text-related work. We also coordinated directly with one main point of contact via a private chat. Task trackers weren’t used — with such a high volume of work, real-time communication in chats proved faster and more efficient.

Internally, we tracked progress in Notion. For the client, we maintained shared Google Sheets with links to source files, edited versions of the texts, and Figma layouts.

From our side, two project managers with editorial backgrounds and one art director handled day-to-day communication. They managed the task flow, distributing assignments among editors, proofreaders, designers, and illustrators.

The client was highly engaged, especially in the visual development phase. It took some time to align on expectations, but through regular calls and feedback exchange, we built a strong working rhythm. As mutual understanding grew, the revision cycle shortened, and collaboration became faster and smoother.
Results
We built an efficient workflow tailored to a large-scale educational product and delivered consistently across all stages. The course is now live: bank managers are actively using the materials as part of their training. While the core work has been completed, we continue to support the client with occasional tasks as needed.

In total, we:

  • Edited and proofread approximately 1,100 pages of text
  • Created 71 infographics
  • Designed templates for presentations, certificates, one-pagers, and other visual assets
  • Elena Artemyeva
Project Manager and Senior Learning Designer
«I’d like to highlight the team’s collaborative mindset and their openness to partnership. They showed great flexibility, offered creative solutions, and delivered an impressive volume of work in a short time frame.

A special thanks for their proactive attitude: instead of just executing tasks, they took time to understand our processes and suggested optimisations that helped us speed up content production.

Working with the agency felt like a true partnership, where the goal wasn’t just to get things done, but to do them well and with care. I highly recommend this team to anyone who values professionalism, accountability, and easy, thoughtful collaboration».
  • Elena Girenko
    Senior Learning & Development Trainer
«What I appreciated most about working with the team on the content side came down to three things:

    1. Open communication. We could freely discuss the process and adjust it as needed — the dialogue was always respectful and constructive.
    2. A commitment to finding the best solution for us. When it became clear that some editors weren’t fully aligned with our topic, the team restructured, assigning specialists with a strong understanding of leadership development and training.
    3. Responsiveness. The team consistently met our often tight deadlines and delivered high-quality results».
  • Ulyana Acuña-Guerrero
    Project Lead
«Huge thanks to the team at Ponjatno for their flexibility and their ability to truly listen and understand. Thanks to our shared commitment to building an effective collaboration process, we were able to streamline the development workflow, making it both fast and high-quality!»
